Set in 1860s Texas, Travis must be the man of the house and take care of family while his father leaves for the summer on a cattle drive. Travis' life is complicated when a thieving yellow dog appears- however, Travis decides to give the creature a chance, and the dog soon proves his worth by saving Travis' brother's life and filling their farm with joy and love. Travis names his new pet Old Yeller and the two are inseparable- for just a few wonderful months.
Rated 10+ for animal death, rabies, harsh frontier living, animal attacks, and heavy themes of grief and loss.
